Help care for sick and injured feral cats like Bootsie

Bootsie had been surviving by eating at a South Shore feral feeding station. The feeder noticed a problem with Bootsie but she was afraid to tell anyone about it, fearing it may cost Bootsie his life. Word got to a long time rescuer who knew about the Captain Courageous Fund (CCF) at MRFRS and their dedication to feral cats with medical needs. The Captain Courageous Fund is dedicated to covering medical bills for feral cats only - and Bootsie is exactly that cat. Once the caretaker was reassured that Bootsie would not be euthanized unless he was beyond help, she sprang into action.

Upon examination the vet found a very deep and persistent bone infection in his lower jaw. He was in so much pain that even under anesthesia Bootsie flinched whenever the vet touched that area of his mouth. With a strong cocktail of two antibiotics and painkillers, Bootsie slowly improved. As part of Bootsie's care, he was neutered and the hematoma and severe itching in his ears were resolved - all thanks to the CCF team and its fundraising.

After a month of recuperation, John S., a long time advocate for feral cats and MRFRS supporter stepped forward to welcome Bootsie into a forever home. You can see without a doubt in the before and after photos the amazing difference that CCF can make in the lives of feral and free-roaming cats.
