MRFRS’s largest fundraiser, the Fur Ball, will be virtual this year. While we wish we were able to get together to celebrate, we’re trying to keep everyone safe so we can paw-ty together in 2022.

One of the most important fundraising components of each year’s Fur Ball is our Fund A Need appeal where we raise money for the programs that are most critical to alleviate the suffering of cats. We do not know the impact going virtual will have on this important appeal so we are writing to you, as one of our big-hearted supporters, for help.

This year, we are humbled to announce that, in memory of our long-time supporter, Pat Connelly, the Institution for Savings has generously offered us a grant of $5,000 to match donations to this year’s Fur Ball Fund a Need appeal. Pat would be so proud and pleased that double the cats in need can be helped in her honor.

Fund a Need donations make a world of difference for cats who wouldn’t have a chance elsewhere…like these sweethearts, Isabelle and Lolly.

If you met Isabelle and Lolly today, you’d probably find it hard to believe that these four-month-old kittens were once living on the streets, spending each day on high alert simply trying to survive. Isabelle and Lolly were scared, struggling and in need of a miracle.

They were brought to a shelter where they tested positive for feline leukemia (FeLV+) and, since the kittens were found at about 12 weeks of age, they’d need extra attention in a foster home to get used to interacting with people.

With no one else to provide the care they needed, these terrified babies were transferred to MRFRS. While feline leukemia can shorten a cat’s lifespan, FeLV+ kitties can spend many happy, healthy years with a family.

MRFRS’s Care for Life post-adoption financial support program assists people who adopt FeLV+ kitties with related medical issues. Our Care for Life program often makes the difference between a cat getting a chance for a forever home...or not.

Unfortunately, adoption fees do not cover the costs of our Care for Life program or expenses associated with the veterinary care all cats need before they’re adopted.

Isabelle and Lolly were adopted together as Care for Life kitties and are now thriving in their new home. Their adopter reports that they are coming out of their shells and, “Lolly actually let me hold her last night and fell asleep in my arms. Luna gets jealous of the attention but they’re so happy to be together!”

Your gift to MRFRS’s Fur Ball Fund a Need makes it possible for MRFRS to take in harder-to-adopt cats like Isabelle and Lolly to give them - and their new families - the support they need to have a happy life together. It doesn’t get much better than that, right?

Please help MRFRS obtain the Institution for Savings match by sending a donation today so we can help more cats like Lolly and Isabelle in the coming year.

Thank you for all you do for the cats who need it most!
