As you've probably heard, the MRFRS adoption center sustained extensive damage after a deluge or water seeped into the basement during this very rainy winter. The cats remained safe and dry; however, a large amount of construction is needed to replace and repair ruined wood and sheetrock and new drainage must be installed to prevent future flooding.
We've begun this costly work but currently, cats cannot be housed in the sickroom or intake area. Kitten season is on the horizon, and if we can't act immediately, the lack of available space will severely limit the number of cats who can be saved by our organization.
The Harpley Foundation heard we needed help to finish the construction so the building is ready to serve the flood of cats and kittens arriving soon and has offered to match each donation to The Great Basement Bailout campaign, dollar for dollar, up to $10,000. As you can imagine, this funding would help MRFRS make more than a dent in the expensive construction bills the recovery has generated.
